FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Got a query?  See if we've answered it here or contact the team

Q:  What's a West Kirby when it's at home?

A:  West Kirby is a seaside town on the Wirral.  Nearby cities are Liverpool and Chester.  It's got a beach, there's an independent bookshop and a Wetherspoons, it's pretty nice, we hope you like it.

Q:  How do I get there?

A:  If you drive, there are public car parks by the Concourse leisure centre and by Morrisons supermarket, both pay-and-display.  We don't recommend parking in Morrisons' own car park or the Aldi car park, as these are both time-limited and you might get a parking charge.
If you get the train, and if you're coming some way, the best thing is probably to head to Liverpool Lime Street.  You can then get on the Wirral Line.  Trains to West Kirby are every fifteen minutes and West Kirby is the end of the line, so you can't miss your stop.  Travellers from Wales can get the train to Bidston and change there for West Kirby.

Q:  Can I park my car at the event itself?

A:  Short answer, no.  Long answer, there is a strictly limited number of parking spaces that we are reserving for the headline guests and for blue badge holders.  If you fall into this latter category, contact us with your numberplate so we can save you a space.  And don't forget to bring your blue badge!

Q:  I don't think I've received my ticket.  Where is it?

A:  The email you received to confirm your ticket purchase is your ticket.  We also have a list of everyone who's purchased, so if you lose your ticket or accidentally delete the email, all is not lost.  Give your name on the door when you arrive and we'll sort you out.

Q:  When does it start?

A:  Meet & Greet starts at 7.30pm on 31st May 2024.  The event itself starts at 10.00am on 1st June 2024.  Doors will open at 9.00am and bacon butties will be available at the bar, because breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  If bacon's not for you then there's a veggie sausage alternative.

Q:  Can I get my book/DVD/magazine/computer/face signed by the guests?

A:  Yep!  You get one free autograph from every one of our main guests* as part of your ticket price.  You can purchase additional autographs on your personal items, as well as autographed photos, from the guests on the day.  Please be aware that if you have a lot of things to get signed then we might ask you to queue again - this is to ensure that everyone gets their chance to get at least one autograph from every guest.  We're sure you understand how important that it is to your fellow fans.

*Please note that Simon Fisher-Becker is a sponsored guest so there is no free autograph from him; we apologise for any disappointment.

If you have purchased a pre-signed  programme before the event, please note that this DOES NOT COUNT  towards your free autographs; those are still yours to use on the day. *

Q: Is there a dress code?

A:  Well, not as such, although Who on the Wirral is a family-friendly event so we'd ask that you please don't wear clothes with offensive or discriminatory language on (not that you would).  Cosplay is welcomed but please remember not to trip over the scarf.

Q:  Are refreshments available?

A:  Apart from the aforementioned breakfast butties, there's a fully-licensed bar, staffed by the friendly volunteers from West Kirby Rotary Club, serving alcoholic and soft drinks all day.  Tea and coffee will also be available.

Q:  Is there a photo studio?

A:  Sadly not, but we will be allowing selfies / personal photos with the guests in exchange for a suggested, very small donation to the charity (literally £2).  Members of the Fanslikeus team will be on hand during the autograph sessions to take photos for you on your device.

Q:  Can I join the MLG?

A:  We at Fanslikeus don't have anything to do with the running of the MLG (Merseyside Local Group), but we know the guys who do and they're a lovely bunch.  Check them out at their Facebook page or pop along to a meeting, first Saturday of every month at the Ship & Mitre on Dale Street in Liverpool.

Q:  Is filming allowed?

A:  Afraid not, but we will be filming the panels ourselves and putting edited highlights up on the social medias afterwards.  Which is modern.

Q:  Are children welcome?

A:    Not only are they welcome, but they get discounted tickets.  Go to the TICKETS page to purchase for under-15s.  Under-5s get in free.  BUT please be aware that actors are a disreputable lot and we can't guarantee that there will be no sweary language in the panels.

Q:  I have some Dr Who art/collectibles/books/gubbins I want to sell.  Can I have a vendor's table?

A:  Sorry but we're fully booked for artists and vendors.  If you want to be considered for future events, do feel free to contact us.

Q:  I can't come.  Can I get a refund?

A:  We're sorry to hear that.  As outlined in the purchase policy, we regret that we cannot issue refunds if you can't use your ticket.  If you think you might not be able to make it, Ticketsource does allow you to add insurance to your purchase.  However, if the event sells out, then we may be able to sell on any unused tickets, in which case we would offer a refund on the ticket we've resold; contact us and we'll do our best for you.

Q:  Are you my mummy?

A:  Go to your room.  I mean it.  I'm very, very angry with you.  I'm very, very cross.  Go.  To.  Your.  ROOM.
